Kravany nad Dunajom (Karva)

The settlement on the left bank of the Danube has an exceptionally rich history. Karva has three treasures, according to the mayor: its inhabitants, its drinking water and its wonderful natural environment. The Danube has always played an important role in the life of the municipality, and its main square is a symbol of the locals’ enthusiasm: the square symbolises the river’s waters, everything is circular here. Its 16-metre lookout tower offers a magnificent panorama of the surrounding villages, and its charming park is also a stopover for those on the Eurovelo6 international cycle route. The area is home to numerous castles and mansions, which are in various states of renovation. Not only locals but also visitors to the area say that Karva has the most beautiful sunsets in the region – the village with its unique panorama has a metaphorical “Danube cinema”, where the show is a constant and the director is Oscar-winning nature. In Karva, what has been preserved has been preserved, and everything else is being built and renovated. Because Karva never wanted to be one of many villages. It wanted to remain the same as itself and the flowing Danube.
